News from the Mothers and Dads Associations

Mothers Weekend is almost here! This annual event takes place from April 13th to 15th. Bring the whole family for a visit to campus and be prepared for a memorable weekend with your student. Look for more information on the Mothers and Dads Associations website.

Do you want to learn more about how you can empower your student? Maybe you are worried about your student living in their first apartment. Attend the Parent Workshops during Mother’s Weekend 2007 and listen to representatives from the University as they discuss issues that are important to Illinois parents.

I want to encourage all of our parents to post questions, concerns, and personal experiences on our Message Board. I believe one of the best ways to make this successful is to hear about parents’ experiences with their student. There is a lot that can be learned when communicating with others who are going through the same things you are. This also gives us a chance to see what you want to learn more about.

Learn about some important tips for reserving hotel rooms on special event weekends, including Mothers and Dads Weekend. Also, if you plan on attending Graduation Ceremonies this Spring and need overnight accommodations, be sure to make your reservations as soon as possible.

This year’s Annual Spring Retreat will be held April 28th and 29th. The Retreat is an opportunity for parents to hear the highlights from the past year from both the Associations and learn more about the University from representatives from the University administrators and staff.
