This also gives us a chance to see what you want to learn more about.Learn about some important tips for reserving hotel rooms on special event weekends, including Mothers and Dads Weekend. Campus SafetyOne of parents’ top concerns is for the safety of their student. The University of Illinois offers many different resources that students can use in order to be safe on campus. The following are just a few of the many ways the U of I helps keep your student safe:SafeRides Student Patrol Walking Escorts Emergency Phones University Policies on Drugs and Alcohol Crime Prevention Overall Security Safety Committees Educational Resources CARE Workshop Campus Safety Video for New Students ACE IT Program Whistle Stop and Rape Aggression Defense System Fraternity Peer Rape Education Project Personal Safety Tips In addition, the August 2006 newsletter provides more information on campus safety that you might want to share with your son or daughter. The University of Illinois does provide resources and education for keeping your student safe. However, the best way for your student to stay safe on campus is by making smart decisions. I encourage you to remind your student of these resources and to keep communicating with them about how they can ensure their own safety. 2007 Spring Election ResultsGreat success as there were over 80 balloted candidates and nearly 10,000 voters this year, the highest vote total since the inception of the Illinois Student Senate. “Unofficial” Election ResultsVideo Captioning services now being offeredAll videos (VHS/Web) shown in class must be closed captioned.
