News from the Mothers and Dads Associations

  • Read about the 2nd Prize Winner in the Association's Annual Tuition Drawing and how winning one semester of in-state tuition has affected her and her family.
  • Moms Weekend information and reservation forms are now available on the Parent Programs website.
  • The Message Board on our website is a great place to exchange ideas and information. Please visit often as new posts are added frequently.
  • The Commencement Website has been posted and is full of information about College and Campus-wide ceremonies and other student instructions

Important Dates

  • Feb. 9 -- Deadline to drop undergrad first half-session course
  • Feb. 9 -- Deadline to elect credit/no credit in undergraduate first half-session course
  • Feb. 22 -- Tuition Payment Due

Financial Aid Information and Forms Available

Apply for FAFSA by the preferential filing date of Mar. 15, 2007. The last day to apply for FAFSA is Apr. 20.

New Freshmen and Transfer Student Housing Contracts Available

Students can submit their Housing contract online and are required to make an advance payment of $100. Contracts can be canceled without penalty before May 1, 2007.

Career Fairs

The Institution of Aviation will be hosting their 17th Annual Aviation Student/Alumni Career Fair on Monday, February 5 in Illini Rooms A, B, and C. Exhibits open at 5:30pm and there will be speakers at 6:30pm.

The Engineering Employment Expo Committee is dedicated to connecting students with potential employers during the school year. Their fall job fair is coming up on Thursday, February 8 from 9am to 4pm in the Illini Rooms A, B, and C.

University of Illinois Internships

Is your student trying to land an amazing internship? The University of Illinois provides internship opportunities in a number of different departments around campus. Assembly Hall is looking for someone to manage a marketing campaign for the Marching Illini. The Office of Volunteer Programs is searching for someone who is dedicated to volunteerism and serving their community to fill their Barbara Seaquist Williams Internship. For more information on these internships as well as other opportunities. The deadline for submitting applications is February 22, 2007.

Career Center Workshops

The Career Center offers many different workshops to help facilitate your student’s job search and graduate school search. They also offer sessions that will help your student write their resume and cover letter that is sure to land them a job or internship. See a complete list of workshops.

Almost all of the colleges offer online newsletters or general news, which keeps its readers updated on what is going on in their field of interest. They range anywhere from announcements of events going on around campus to newsletters full of scholarly articles related to their particular field of study. College of Communications Info Sessions and Deadlines

Is your student interested in Advertising, Journalism, or Media Studies, but hasn’t declared a major yet? If so, encourage them to attend one of the Information Sessions the College of Communications is hosting on February 12 and February 21. If they are already interested in transferring into the program, the deadline to apply is fast approaching. Application and details about the Information Sessions.

Engineer’s Week

The Annual Engineer’s Week will be held February 18th through February 24th. The entire week is devoted to celebrating the accomplishments of those who have shaped our world. This year, some of the events include:

Counseling Center Workshops

All University students have access to the resources the counseling center provides. The Counselors are trained to address academic, relational, and emotional concerns. One of the many services the center offers is “Tuesdays @ Seven Workshops”. This month the workshops include:
