Join Us for Moms Weekend 2008!

 

We will recognize the 2008 Medallion of Honor recipient for her dedication and service to the students and to the UIUC community, the Amelia Alpiner Stern Mom of the Year and the 2008 Humanitarian Award recipients for their innovation and dedication in community service. Krystal Fitzpatrick of the Police Training Institute will be our keynote speaker, and we'll wrap up with the incredibly talented Girls Next Door; the premiere female acappella ensemble. And that's just the beginning of the evening! You and your student will have plenty of time to enjoy some of the other great events scheduled that evening.

The committee extends an invitation to join the Association on Saturday morning for the Moms Association Annual Meeting, beginning at 9:15 in Illini Union Room 210. This is a great opportunity to learn more about what you can do to be involved in the outstanding work of this organization. We will install the Board of Directors that will lead the Association through 2008-09.

We have scheduled free, informational parent workshops on Saturday, following the Moms Annual Meeting. At 11 am, in Illini Union Room 407, Esther Patt of the Tenant Union will talk with parents about the campus housing market, common pitfalls and the services available through the Tenant Union. At 12 noon (Illini Union Room 404) Rhonda Kirts of the Office of the Dean of Students will talk with parents about what her office does and the resources available to their students. And at 1 pm (Illini Union Room 407) Ben Greco of Student Financial Services & Cash Operations will give parents valuable information about student account billing, tuition payment options, and more! Curt McKay of LGBT Resources will help participants understand ways to support children, family members, friends or colleagues who are going through the coming out process as LGBT people at 2pm (Illini Union Room 404). On Friday, April 11, Karena Gwin will talk about Student Health Insurance at 3pm in Illini Union Room 406. Register now by sending an email to uofiparents@ad.uiuc.edu. Parking on weekends is free in many of the parking garages and employee parking lots. Two of the garages closest to the Illini Union are on the corners of Fifth and Daniel and John and Sixth Streets, both in Champaign, 1-2 blocks west of the Illini Union.
