"Unofficial" St. Patrick's Day

The Mothers and Dads Associations, through the Parent Programs Office, are working to provide parents with useful information regarding the "Unofficial" St. Patrick's Day celebration that has evolved in the campus community. This event is neither sponsored nor endorsed by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. We hope that this information will help you engage in productive discussions with your student about the expectations, implications and consequences surrounding the choices they make. The articles below are written by key University personnel and provide suggestions and recommendations about the issues that need to be addressed and the consequences of making poor choices.

Please take a few minutes to read over these articles. "Unofficial" typically occurs one to two weeks prior to the beginning of Spring Break and will take place this year on March 2nd. This event has evolved into a degrading, destructive and dangerous event and the resulting behavior is in direct conflict to the mission of the University.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Parent Programs Office at 217.333.7063 or by e-mail at uofiparentprograms@ad.uiuc.edu.
